I’m in love. I think I’ve found the one.
Well more than one to be exact. It started off with a Posh lunch with one, followed by a delightfully Demure evening with another. Next thing I know I’m with a different one every day of the week, sometimes two. Each of them beautiful in their own unique way but all of them so comforting and here in my life forever.
That’s right, I’m in love with Girlactik Liquid Lipsticks!
Girlactik is the brainchild of the super glamorous LA native Galit Strugano. What started off creating a foolproof eyeshadow base blossomed into a whole beauty empire and her story (which you can find online) of how Girlactik became to be, is not only seriously inspiring but demonstrates how much thought and care Galit puts into creating each product.
I’ve spoken about my obsession with Girlactik liquid lipsticks before and how they are the most comfortable matte liquid lipstick I have ever come across. What’s more, after makeup food comes a really really close second on the list of things I love and every Girlactik lipstick I have tried has the staying power to get through any cuisine I crave.
Given my love for these liquid lipsticks you can imagine my excitement when I was sent several shades from the classic matte range as well as all three of Girlactik’s new metallic liquid lipsticks to try out.*
Now you know me, I love trying on different lipsticks so you can see what it actually looks like on the lips but as well as showing you photos of the different colours, I have described a certain look with each one, whether that’s an outfit or suggesting certain colours that match well. I feel this is an integral part of getting ready, as although some of you might want to walk round nude in public (please Kit Harrington) we are all bound by social rules that dictate clothes must be worn! This means once you’ve decided on your outfit you need to pick that perfect lipstick to help you achieve an overall cohesive look.
First up is Blossom. This gorgeous fuchsia is the perfect matte mix of red and pink. As well as going perfectly with lace and light airy materials, I’m getting definite oriental vibes so pair with bright grass greens and bold sky blues.
Bashful is a perfect peachy nude. As soon as I applied this to my lips I immediately thought pastels. Lilacs and pistachio green or even creams and deep navy for those colder months.
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about Starlet as it is such a bright pink but the moment I put it on I loved it and wore it for the rest of the day. I even ate three fajitas and drank numerous cups of tea and it was still going strong! Starlet has blue undertones which means it goes great with crisp whites and denim. Jean shirt, dungarees, denim jacket, heck go nuts and cover your whole body in denim and it will still look great.
Oh how sweet is this liquid lipstick in Sweet. I love that this has a matte finish opposed to glossy as it give this feminine pink more of an edge. Now I’m not just being a bit extra holding the rose as if I’m in a romance film (or maybe I am) but the yellow centre, mauve pink petal tips and leaf green, that make up this white rose all go perfectly with Sweet. Apply that to clothing and you’ve got yourself a fabulous outfit.
Think rich tans, oranges, even emerald greens for this next lipstick in Spice. Since I’m still saving up to go to India (one of my must-visit desinations), combining Spice with just the right outfit makes me feel as if I’m practically there!
I have a soft spot for this next lipstick Sahara as my surname actually means person of the Sahara desert. It’s like my version of finding my name on a keyring! One of the first in Girlactik’s metallic range, loads of colours go well with Sahara but the one thing they have in common is cool undertones and when it comes to matching an outfit with this peachy gold dream just think of the sand and the sky.
What could be better than my favourite colour lipstick, oh I know a pink lipstick with a metallic finish. This literally is Romance in a bottle. I would wear Romance with non-metallic pinks and greys during the day but at night it would be rude of me not to wear sequins. So here I am rocking a grey evening gown with sequins that shimmer Romance pink in the light. Nailed it.
The last one in the metallic range is Crimson. This wine red dress was a must, throw on a black leather jacket and I would be feeling full on glam rock chic. If in doubt monochrome is always the way forward.
So in my previous Girlactik post I made a pretty bold claim that they are the best liquid lipsticks in the world. Do I still think that?
The first thing I noticed about these lipsticks is that the formula is consistent with every single one. They all glide of easy peasy lemon squeezy, no streaks or flakiness just nice even colour. The metallics are just as comfortable and long lasting as the classic mattes, if not more so which seems impossible. There were times when I even forgot I was wearing a lipstick at all and it wasn’t until I caught my reflection in the mirror I had to remind myself to make sure I take it off before bed!
There is a shade that suits everyone, actually more than one shade as you can see here. Perfect for every day, every evening, every season. In fact they’re so long-lasting they would probably last the whole year. Don’t worry though, a few wipes with makeup remover and your lips are ready for another shade.
Come join the Girlactik club, you won’t be disappointed.
