My First Colourpop Order!

What to do when you’re feeling sorry for yourself with a cold, lying in bed at 3am unable to sleep because you’ve just rolled in your dribble for the billionth time as you are unable to breathe through your nose!

What to do?

What to do?

What to do?

Oh yeah I know!

ONLINE SHOPPING

After a really really early morning scroll on Twitter, I noticed the American makeup brand Colourpop were on their last day of free international shipping.

Ignoring the prospect of a hefty custom charge, and through my Night Nurse induced haze, I eagerly went on the Colourpop site and shopped until I dropped back to sleep.

As well as a collection of nude eyeshadows and liquid lipsticks, the two things I had my eyes on were the Ultra Satin Lipstick in Frick n Frack, and the supershock eyeshadow collaboration with Kathleen Lights, ‘Where the Night is’.

First the eyeshadows.

I was super excited to try the Colourpop supershock eyeshadows, as I’d heard great things about the formula, and the four in ‘Where the Night is’ grabbed my attention straight away.

ColourPop Kathleen Lights eyeshadow where the night is

Telepathy: ultra-metallic chartreuse

Weenie: true metallic rose gold

Porter: deep pearlized warm burgundy with gold multi-dimensional glitter

Midnight: black shadow with gold glitter

The first thing I noticed about these eyeshadows is the bouncy consistency. When you press your finger onto the shadow, it feels like mix of powder and creme eyeshadow which is really pleasant. The pigmentation is, well insane is a bit of an understatement:

So pretty!!!!!

This was the teeniest dip of my finger in each shadow, and just one swipe on my arm for the swatches. Colourpop recommend you apply these shadows with your finger or a really dense bristle brush.

Personally, I like to apply with my fingers and then blend with a fluffier brush for a more diffuse look. I think all these colours form a really cohesive collection, the more neutral tones of Porter and Midnight, which would create a perfect smokey eye, to the serious pop of colour provided by Telepathy. Then there is Weenie, the perfect rose gold ever. Enough said.

After a lot of fun experimenting these super shock eyeshadows, I finished off these looks with one of Colourpop’s best seller Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick Frick n Frack.

It is described as pinky terracotta shade, that is creamy and pigmented with just a few swipes. I would say it’s more of a burgundy on me, which allows me to go full on 90s glam. Frick N Frack is part of Colourpop’s satin finish range, which I would describe as a cross between a semi-matte liquid lipstick, and a matte lipstick from say MAC. The finish is just right for me, it feels really smooth on my lips and I find it far far less drying then a full on matte lipstick. I tested its staying power by demolishing 4 slices of toast smothered in butter for brekkie, and although it does transfer a little bit I was happy to see my lips still looked good and didn’t require any touch ups.

The Kathleen Lights collaboration is only $18 (thats £13.90 for us Brits atm, which is an absolute steal), and in fact because it is last chance to buy, it’s only $14.40! So hurry and get it before it goes!

Frick n Frack is only $6! (£4.63), although if you head over to my Instagram, you can enter my international giveaway to win this and many other goodies.

So as you might have guessed, I am now a huge Colourpop fan. Seriously, I am trying not to look at their website at the moment because every product looks amazing.

I will be doing a full review on the rest of my Colourpop haul asap.

Stay tuned,

Captial B Lips Pout

Thank you! I really can’t get over the pigmentation of the supershock eyeshadows. I love them. I’m dying to try the highlighters, especially Churro. I’m also keen to try a lavender hue highlight like Hippo. Looks like I might have to make another order soon! xx

I can’t believe the pigmentation of these eyeshadows either! The texture is nothing like I’ve felt before, but I really like them. Yes, highlighters are top of my list. If only there was a way to avoid custom charges! xx
