Midas Touch

The very first real eyeshadow I ever owned, was given to me for my birthday by my mother. A MAC cosmetics single in retrospeck. A light gold glitter eyeshadow that I continue to purchase the second it runs out, and is a firm staple in my makeup collection. Like a magpie, I am drawn to all those golden circles, collecting them like precious jewellery.

The fantastic thing about gold eyeshadow is that it can be worn any time, on any occasion.

Summer holiday by the pool – shimmer in white gold

Christmas work party – go really glamourous with rose gold and copper shades

Evening celebration meal – a golden smokey eye

Popping to the supermarket – cut crease in gold glitter

Ok that last one may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it really is that versatile. Even just a pop of gold in the corner of the eye, makes blue eyes sparkle and brown eyes smoulder. It brightens up dull skin and suits all complexions.

With my gold obsession never complete, off I went to get hold of the much talked about Fortune Favours the Brave eyeshadow palette from my new found favourite makeup brand Makeup Revolution.

A collaboration between Makeup Revolution and beauty blogger Jane Cunningham, this thirty piece collection is packed full of baked beauties, perfect purples, beautiful blues, natural nudes, and of course my all time favourite gold eyeshadows.

Here are swatches of all thirty eyeshadows. As you can see all of them have good coverage. All the colours are grouped into shades making it really easy to blend them together. It is great having such a cohesive collection, with staple colours, as well as some really unique shades. After all experimenting and having fun with makeup is a must.

Armed with my new palette and many eyeshadow brushes, I was ready to create some new makeup looks centred on Glam, Glitter and of course Gold.

This cut crease look was created using:

Glimmer in the inner corner

Sunset Hour on the lid

Super Gold  on the outer eye

Ice Cloud in the crease

Super Gold and Glimmer above crease

Finally, I paired my eyeshadow with Bourjois Rouge Velvet liquid lipstick in number 07 Nude-ist.

I own a couple of these lipsticks and they are a really good alternative to a more expensive brand. Application goes on smoothly and then sets for a matte lip that lasts all day.

Fortune truly does favour the brave,
